December 21st

Christmas in Fairmont

The Leggette's had their Christmas get together today. I was glad I was able to go this time. It seems that every time Arthur has made it to visit his relatives, I have to work.

It was beautiful and in the 60's .

This is the infamous 14- layer cake! I took this picture especially for you Nancy! How come ours never looked like this?

Still More December 12-15th

On Sunday, Donna wasn't feeling well so they decided to rest at the condo while Arthur and I went to Chimney Rock. I have never seen such amazing views!

We thought this one through. There was an elevator up to Chimney Rock, followed by 40 steps or you could hike the trail. We decided to take the elevator to save our strength for later. When you are old, you have to make these types of decisions.

I especially loved coming here because this is where"The Last of the Mohigans" was filmed. That's my favorite movie.

The view just goes on forever!

This is what we saved our strength for - the 1 1/2 mile hike out to the waterfall! Absolutely amazing!

I will admit that I paid for this for a couple of days but it was worth it!

More Dec 12- 15th

The Biltmore was amazing. It is so hard to comprehend that lifestyle. Unfortunately they don't allow you to take photos but here are a few shots of the outside.

Can you imagine looking at this view every day!

This isn't a picture we took -- there are no people in it! But it give you an idea of the immensity of the house. The house is about 4 acres!

December 12-15th

We were invited to join our friend's Donna and Nahum for a weekend in the mountains. After a hair raising trip up the winding roads, we arrived at the beautiful time share. It was absolutly gorgeous there.

The view across Lake Lure
On Saturday, we went to see the Biltmore. We arrived and scheduled our tour. It allowed enough time for us to have a late lunch at the restaurant there.

The food was excellent. The guys both got reuben's.

Donna and I both had the chicken pot pie. It was well worth it!

Enjoying our meal

December 7th

We decorated the house today! I actually didn't put everything out. Yesterday was busy and I just haven't seemed to have been in the mood. But next weekend we are going away and then the following weekend I work and then it's Christmas! Arthur didn't do all the outside lights yet either. We put out our bells and the Christmas flag and I think he'll put out the large wreath on Friday.

December 4th

We went to our Apartment Finder Christmas Party at the Brier Creek Country Club

Me & Rose

The girls of Beachwood - Nancy, Me and Rose. No, we didn't have too much to drink (at $8 a glass of wine that wasn't happening!) but we were just having fun.

December 2nd

The redneck lawn ornament. It's been sitting on the side of the house for several weeks. I finally took matters into my own hands and called a scrap yard. They came and towed it away. Otherwise, I would have to use it as a planter come spring.

Chicken Enchiladas! Yum!

Happy Thanksgiving!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING FROM THE POTTERS!

After a 20 hour drive Ben and Nathalie arrived! Everyone is now here.

They look a little worn out but we are glad they made the trip.

A shot of their wedding rings.

November 26th

On Wednesday, we joined Kim in some of her exploring North Carolina. She decided to check out the Botanical Gardens and the Planatarium. (These are all for possible future volunteer sites). However, there was nothing alive in the gardens.

These were the only plants that we still living.

We did appear to be the only crazy people wandering around the garden today.

I wonder why?

November 25th

Monday, we drove to the NC Zoo and did what my sister calls "drive bys" to check out locations of things for her. On Tuesday,

Andy and Christine arrived!

November 23rd

OK KIM - YOU MADE THE BLOG!!

My Mom and my sister, Kim, arrived today. Kim is moving here from California in about 18 months so she wanted to come to check out the area.

November 22nd

We spent most of Saturday cleaning and food shopping since our family begins arriving tomorrow. Then that night we went to see Transiberian Orchestra! I am always in awe.

The Christmas season has officially begun

November 19th

It snowed in North Carolina!

For all of maybe 20 seconds!

November 15th

Dan went to a friend's sweet 16 birthday party.

He thought it would be boring...

Until he found out he liked to "move it. move it"!

November 5th

I'm playing catch up. Sierra turned 21 on November 5th. We had her actual cake and dinner a couple days later.

Happy 21st Birthday Sierra!

November 2nd

I can't believe that it is already November! I thought I would be so organized for everyone coming here for Thanksgiving and I am so NOT. Lol! I know that I have plenty of time but I thought I would be more organized than I am. Last Sunday, I went to a bridal shower for Lauren and James Hoffert at church. We had a new starter put in Arthur's car on Monday but the car dealer that we bought it from paid for it. Friday night was Arthur's birthday. We went to Fargo Cattle Company for dinner with Donna and Nahum to celebrate. Saturday night, the youth were all meeting at the Vidal's so we went over to keep Donna & Nahum company. Today, we went to service. After we had lunch, Arthur and I went to the library and then he changed my oil in my car and checked my antifreeze. Arthur's cousin, Cathy, came by for a visit in the afternoon. Now we are just relaxing. Tomorrow my hours change at work and i have to be in at 8:00 - ick! But at least I get out at 5:00 pm - that will be great.

October 19th

The North Carolina State Fair! Arthur and I actually skipped church to go early this morning. It was the only day we were both free but we needed to get back before 5 for Rachel's birthday dinner. It was chilly - about 55 degrees and unbelievably crowded!

You always need painted cows.

The largest pumpkin - That's a lot of pies.

A pig pile!

Beautiful weather...

Deep fried everything!

More deep friend everything!

Deep fried pecan pie. Yum! We also tried the deep fried mac & cheese but that was just ok.

When we got home, we had Rachel's birthday. Arthur made lasagna and we had chocolate cake.

Happy Birthday, Rachel!

I think 22 candles is the limit we can safely put on a cake!
