September 23 & 24

Despite the horrible economy, there is apparently no end to the need for more restaurants and stores. What amazes me is that every restaurant has a waiting line on the weekends! Someone has money!

Buffalo Wild Wings opened in Knightdale. We got free lunch tickets for "Family and Friends" on Tuesday since Rose's daughter Kim works there. Then Wednesday night we got free dinner for "the community". I'm not sure if the free dinner was worth it since we waited 1 1/2 hrs for our meal! The whole point of the free meals is for the servers and cooks to practice so we did have patience but it was a long time to wait.

September 19th

No wedding pictures yet. : ( But something almost as good! Well not really but...

The green monster is back! I have never been so happy to see the little green car.

Note the beautiful engine with only 1200 miles on it!
It's funny how you appreciate the small things when you haven't had it for awhile. Arthur worked Saturday and I had a car! I could go to the store without having to bug Dan for a ride. Now mind you, he has been very accommodating but I appreciate just being able to hop in my car and run an errand. This morning, I didn't have to get to work an hour early (Rose was off today so normally Arthur would have dropped me off on his way to work). I could stop at Food Lion on my way in. I could go home for lunch! Yippee! Small things can really make me happy!
I wondered what I was supposed to be learning in our carlessness - perhaps dependance since I tend to be overly independant. Maybe frugality since it really forced us to cut corners to get some money saved. It ended up being humility since I swallowed my pride and asked my Mom for help. Maybe it was all those things. Do you ever just want to go "Ok, God, I get it -- I don't need the object lesson!" But, of course, we do since we never really get it. We are constantly needing reminders of the very things we think we've learned.
I don't want to make it sound like having a car not functioning for 3 months is the worst thing to happen because I know there are a lot worse things. It was at worst a big inconvenience. But it is definitely an inconvenience that I am glad is over!

My baby is married! That means that I am a mother-in- law!! AAAAAAAHHHHHHH!

Mr and Mrs Benny Potter

No this is not their first kiss - I'm waiting for the pictures. Natalie arrived in Kansas on Friday and today they got married. We weren't able to be there which is sad but we'll get to see them at Thanksgiving. They both sound so happy and that we wish them joy in their life together!

[W]hen you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible. -- Nora Ephron, When Harry Met Sally

My Greatest wish for the two of you is that through the years your love for each other will so deepen and grow, that years from now you will look back on this day, your wedding day, as the day you loved each other the least.-- Wedding Toast, to the Bride and Groom

This day I will marry my friend, the one I laugh with, live for, dream with, love.-- Anonymous

To keep your marriage brimming, with love in the wedding cup, whenever you're wrong, admit it; whenever you're right, shut up.-- Ogden Nash

September 13th

We had our pool party/block party at work. Apparently it got a little out of hand...

My regional director had a little altercation with the police...

We also required the services of the local fire department as well.

Lol! It did go really well. We had local stores and restaurants come with samples, plus the fire department and the police department. We served food, had a DJ and raffled off gift cards. All in all it was a good event.

You Belong in 1959
You're fun loving, romantic, and more than a little innocent. See you at the drive in!

Hmmm... I'd like to think this was true. I'll have to ask my friends.

September 12th

Ben's fiance arrived in Kansas today. We were told that they were getting married on Monday but now it looks like it will be later in the week. They promised me pictures!

Natalie took pictures of their new apartment with her camera phone and sent them to me .

September 10th

I am so tired of cars... Daniel's car stalled on the side of the highway.

September 9th

Did you ever hear the expression "sprouting like mushrooms"? Now I understand the meaning behind that saying.

We've had a lot of rain and these mushrooms just appeared overnight!

September 8th

I had today off since I worked the weekend. I decided that I would clean out the Harry Potter Closet - the closet under the stairs.

It amazes me what we managed to fit in this closet! It is a black hole.

Now we can actually see that there is a floor!

September 6th

I have been slacking on both my picture taking and my blogging! Time just seems to be picking up speed and gets away from me. I work until 6 and don't get home until 6:30 or so, then there is dinner to cook and odds and ends to do. Suddenly it's 8:30 -9:00 and I'm getting ready for bed; maybe watch a tv show or 2 or reading for awhile and then it's lights out! Not too much unusual going on here. My mother and sister are making plans to come for Thanksgiving - I haven't seen Kim is 8 years! Ben and Natalie are also supposed to come but Ben just found out that he might be deployed --- to FRANCE! Lol! Natalie was coming here and now it looks like he may be going there. Andy said that he can't come but since he just gave his notice at his job in RI maybe he can come after all... hint, hint....

In the meantime, Arthur and Dan have found a new hobby -- shooting staples into the woods.

Labor Day weekend was nice. Saturday, we got all the errands done. Sunday we relaxed. Monday we went to Duplin Winery with Donna and Nahum. We had lunch at the Bistro, toured the winery and then did a taste testing. Our tour guide was fantastic! Afterwards, Donna & Nahum came back to our house and we through some shish kabobs on the grill.

Not our tour guide

Andy said that he and Christine had found new transportation and were negotiating a loan. Then he sent this picture. Lol! Actually, Andy had some vacation time so him and Christine went to Southwick Animal Farm (in MA).

Tropical Storm Hanna came to NC. We are inland enough so that we just got lots of rain, which is good since we are still getting out of the drought, and a little bit of wind. Honestly, it seemed pretty tame compared to some of the thunder storms I've seen!
