July 4th

For 4th of July, we went to Brett and Stephanie Singletary's home. They invited the Calvary Clayton Fellowship. It was an actual pig pickin'!
If you're squeamish (or a vegetarian) you won't appreciate the next couple pix but despite the icky pictures, it was delicious.

They slow roasted a whole pig over a fire pit .

Such a lovely shot!

Then they begin pulling the pork for barbecue

Afterward we could fish in their little pond.

Or swim in the pool

Or sit in the shade and eat watermelon

Pastor Kevin and Lloyd decided to try wrestling.

Chris Leggette's wedding

We went to Chris & Kelly's wedding. Chris is Arthur's cousins son. The ceremony was held in a chapel.

The reception afterward was at the O.Henry Hotel in Greensboro. Unfortunatley, we ended up leaving early because I got a horrible migraine. It was a very LONG ride back to Knightdale!

May/June

Summer is definitely here in NC! Tomorrow is supposed to hit 100 degrees as a matter of fact. Arthur is still out of work but has been busy with lots of projects at home. Daniel is working at a doggie day care called Pupsi. He likes the job but it's in Cary which is a bit of a ride. He's registered for school in the fall - you'll never guess what for! Nursing! He's finally decided that he needs a college education to find a good job. Andy is also back in school in RI for Radiology.

We're really excited about Ben and Natalie. They just got orders to report to Fort Sam Houston, Texas on Aug 20th for school and then he's stationed at Fort Lee, Virginia as of January 20th. That's only 2 hrs away! PTL!

My pix are upside down again (sorry!) so if you start at the bottom they will make more sense.

We sat in the skybox so we got to enjoy air conditioning and no mosquitoes. When you're in the skybox, you get waiting on which is cool. For those of you in RI, it's similar to the PawSox. They had all kind of games for the kids, and fireworks at the end.

Arthur and I went to see the Mudcats one Friday night with Melody and Brian. We had such a blast. Only in NC do we have a catfish for a mascot!

Nick caught the most fish and also the largest fish. Arthur couldn't figure it out - he caught 1 fish and Nick, who was right next to him, caught 40!

Pastor Kevin

Daniel deep sea fishing with our church. Unfortunately, Daniel discovered that he isn't cut out for sea life; he spent most of the day sea sick. He has definitely ruled out the Navy or sailing to Italy in his future.

Our first baby dedications at Clayton Calvary Fellowship

This is the Muscadine grape vine that Arthur's cousin Kathy gave us when we moved here. It has taken off and so Arthur decided it was time to build a grape arbor. Now if the deer would leave the grapes alone we might actually get a lot of grapes! Lately, our yard looks like Animal Planet - deer, rabbits, box turtles, lizards, hummingbirds, bluebirds and fireflies.

Our topsy turvey tomatoes are doing so well. We can't wait for the tomatoes to turn red!

Our first tomato off of Arthur's topsy turvey tomatoes! They are doing so well. We hung them off the screen porch.

May 5th

Tornado Warnings! Tornadoes touched down all around us but we were safe and able to watch the storm pass right over us. There was some minor damage (parts of the roof blowing off, siding coming off, that sort of thing) at my work.

May 2nd

Arthur's cousin's daughter Anna got married. It was a beautiful ceremony held outside at the Preston Woodall House in Benson, NC

Who gives this woman...

Do you Anna take Dallas...

The first kiss

End of April

Arthur 's had a lot of time to work in the yard this year. I went over Melody's and brought home
some extra plants she had. We planted them on the side of the house.

Some of the flower's from Melody's

Arthur put his grape vine on a latice. You should see all the baby grapes.

Clemitis! Have you ever seen such perfect flowers? Arthur planted them next to the front porch.

Arthur's Roses

The roses got a latice too.

Gracie thought she'd help by trying to run off with my baby tree!

The Tale of Horatio

There once was a momma and poppa bird. They searched and searched for a place to build their home and finally found the perfect location. The Potter's screen house! They proceeded to build the finest nest that any bird could build. Momma Bird laid her eggs and they began their little family. Alas Mr. Potter became aware that there was a nest in HIS screen house. He huffed and puffed and threatened to tear the nest down! He began blocking the various entrences to the screen house while Momma and Poppa bird frantically found new ways in to care for their little ones. Then one day Mr Potter thought he had it all figured out and began to take the nest out with a stick! Low and behold, he saw the baby birds (actually they landed on him!)! His heart melted and he delicately put the babies back in the nest. One baby, Horatio, took a liking to Mr Potter and refused to go back into the nest (teenagers ) and fluttered around on the screenhouse floor. Horatio, as he came to be known, lived on the floor of the screen house for several days, guarded by Mr Potter from the big bad wolves, also known as Sam and Gracie. A couple days later Horatio and his brothers and sisters bid us a fond farewell and flew off into their great adventure.

Spring Break

Dan and his friends went to the beach over spring vacation. It still amazes me that you can swim in the ocean in April! As you can see they had a blast!

More April

Dan and Arthur went to the Vidal's to paint their garage for their anniversary.

I think that their garage looks better than my house!
