August 28th - Sept 1

One night we took Andy to the Durham Bull's.

August 28th - Sept 1

Andy and Christine broke off their engagement. Although it was devastating for all involved, we know it's best to have them realize it now rather than later. Andy decided to visit us for a week to get "away from his life". We were happy to oblige . The first night, Arthur, Dan and Andy had a guy's night out - steaks, beer and a movie.

August 25th

This week was my friend, Melody's, birthday. We joined them at another Mudcat's game.

August 12th

Isn't God's creation amazing! This is a writing spider. Rose found it in the bushes near the office. It was probably 5" across. Notice the "Z's" that it "writes"!

August 8th

Our good friends, the Vidal's, daughter and our Goddaughter turns 16 tomorrow. She is a very special young lady who God has great plans for. They had a fantastic Sweet 16 Party for her. She had a blast! The theme was a masquerade party.

Believe it or not, she's doing the hokey pokey!

These are the girls...

Yes, here is Arthur and I wearing our masks.

I had to post the picture of Daniel before the party. He's such a handsome young man. BTW, he's lost 35 lbs!

August 7th

Just a quiet night at home. We had grilled steaks, Creamy Potato Packets and Ceasar Salad, accompanied by my new favorite wine, Barefoot Moscato.

July 28th

I guess the world has definitely changed. Yesterday, I met a friend for lunch who happened to be coming to RDU airport. Now we have known each other for probably 8 years. Both of us home schooled and used the same curriculum; both of us attend Calvary Chapels; Both of us moved across country; Both of us worked in the public library. We have chatted about kids, and husbands, and recipes. BUT WE HAD NEVER, EVER MET BEFORE YESTERDAY! We are email pals, having been on the same email loop for the past 8 years. Kristine was dropping her daughter off at the airport and so we made arrangements to meet before she headed back to Virginia. It was wonderful getting to meet each other face to face finally.

July 27th

Arthur has a new job! Praise the Lord! He started today at AP Exhaust Products in Goldsboro. He's been out of work a total of 18 weeks. He had just completed all the "honey do" projects so it was time . It'll be great getting back to normal - whatever that is.

July 24th

Update - Baby Lydia was born! She's was due Sept 2nd so she's just a tiny little thing at only 4 lb 11 oz. Please keep her and the Edward's family in your prayers. She had a little bit of a problem breathing but seems to be doing fine now.

July 18th

Our church had a baby shower for our pastor's wife. They are expecting their 2nd child - a little girl named Lydia Grace. The shower was huge with people from both Clayton and Calvary Cary attending.

As usual there was tons of good food

July 11th

We had a beautiful weekend. Saturday we drove to Duplin Winery to buy the Mothervine Wine. It's the first wine in over 100 years to be produced from the native Mother Vine, the oldest vine in America. Now this was about a 3 hour round trip but it was worth it! On the way home, we stopped at Trader Joe's and Harris Teeter's in Cary.

We came home and had Firecracker Shrimp, fresh corn on the cob, and parmesan coucous for dinner. Followed by...

Peach Cobbler with French vanilla ice cream for dessert. Yummmm...

Oh and the wine - Don't forget the wine!

July 4th

For 4th of July, we went to Brett and Stephanie Singletary's home. They invited the Calvary Clayton Fellowship. It was an actual pig pickin'!
If you're squeamish (or a vegetarian) you won't appreciate the next couple pix but despite the icky pictures, it was delicious.

They slow roasted a whole pig over a fire pit .

Such a lovely shot!

Then they begin pulling the pork for barbecue

Afterward we could fish in their little pond.

Or swim in the pool

Or sit in the shade and eat watermelon

Pastor Kevin and Lloyd decided to try wrestling.

Chris Leggette's wedding

We went to Chris & Kelly's wedding. Chris is Arthur's cousins son. The ceremony was held in a chapel.

The reception afterward was at the O.Henry Hotel in Greensboro. Unfortunatley, we ended up leaving early because I got a horrible migraine. It was a very LONG ride back to Knightdale!

May/June

Summer is definitely here in NC! Tomorrow is supposed to hit 100 degrees as a matter of fact. Arthur is still out of work but has been busy with lots of projects at home. Daniel is working at a doggie day care called Pupsi. He likes the job but it's in Cary which is a bit of a ride. He's registered for school in the fall - you'll never guess what for! Nursing! He's finally decided that he needs a college education to find a good job. Andy is also back in school in RI for Radiology.

We're really excited about Ben and Natalie. They just got orders to report to Fort Sam Houston, Texas on Aug 20th for school and then he's stationed at Fort Lee, Virginia as of January 20th. That's only 2 hrs away! PTL!

My pix are upside down again (sorry!) so if you start at the bottom they will make more sense.

We sat in the skybox so we got to enjoy air conditioning and no mosquitoes. When you're in the skybox, you get waiting on which is cool. For those of you in RI, it's similar to the PawSox. They had all kind of games for the kids, and fireworks at the end.

Arthur and I went to see the Mudcats one Friday night with Melody and Brian. We had such a blast. Only in NC do we have a catfish for a mascot!

Nick caught the most fish and also the largest fish. Arthur couldn't figure it out - he caught 1 fish and Nick, who was right next to him, caught 40!

Pastor Kevin

Daniel deep sea fishing with our church. Unfortunately, Daniel discovered that he isn't cut out for sea life; he spent most of the day sea sick. He has definitely ruled out the Navy or sailing to Italy in his future.

Our first baby dedications at Clayton Calvary Fellowship

This is the Muscadine grape vine that Arthur's cousin Kathy gave us when we moved here. It has taken off and so Arthur decided it was time to build a grape arbor. Now if the deer would leave the grapes alone we might actually get a lot of grapes! Lately, our yard looks like Animal Planet - deer, rabbits, box turtles, lizards, hummingbirds, bluebirds and fireflies.

Our topsy turvey tomatoes are doing so well. We can't wait for the tomatoes to turn red!

Our first tomato off of Arthur's topsy turvey tomatoes! They are doing so well. We hung them off the screen porch.
